The oversized heads, the almost life-sized busts, as well as the full figures of Annette Meincke-Nagy instantly draw the viewer into its spell. They radiate something enchanted, dreamy, introverted and a quiet force. The figures show a strong presence and impact but dissociates. Maybe it's their delicate beauty, or the touching expression of her eyes. The view is always to the side or down, it seems through the eyes of the viewer to see through it.
"Settling in a face hineinzubegeben, as in a landscape - that is what excites me." Annette Meincke-Nagy studying faces - in their environment as well as in art history. It goes to their faces with expression of a timeless and alive at the same time. So are their pictures sculptural tributes to the beauty and dignity of the human physiognomy.
Annette Meincke-Nagy's sculptures are made of a cellulose-quartz-glue mixture. On a wire frame over a period of weeks they grow layer by layer approach. This time technology is reflected in the works again: Annette Meincke-Nagy's heads forcing the viewer to stop instead of carelessly vorüberzueilen.
