ART & WINE : ARTISTE WINERY FEATURES TWO ARTISTS FROM ARTAMO GALLERY

Artiste Winery has been producing Impressionist art inspired wines for nearly a decade. Each wine is blended to taste, while respectfully paying homage to the great wines of Europe. Now, having produced over fifty wines labeled with Impressionist art, Artiste is branching out further into modern art with the production of two Artiste Modern Wines™ that fuse together contemporary art with terroir.

Modern Wines are philosophically driven by a concept known as “terroir.” The concept of terroir developed through centuries of French winemaking based on observation of what made wines from different regions, vineyards or even different sections of the same vineyard so different from each other. The French began to crystallize the concept of terroir as a way of describing the unique aspects of a place that influences and shapes the wine made from it

Harbour House is the venue for Second Glance.

Plymouth photographer Maureen Douglas-Green's second solo exhibition at the Kingsbridge art gallery. This new collection of photographs reflects Maureen's diverse interests in the natural world, and her search for the details and harmonies in nature that might so easily be missed.

Maureen's most recent work explores the possibilities of panoramic photography, and she plans to show these prints in a range of sizes up to 3 metres in width. Her particular passion in the panoramic field is macro botanical work and, she explains, "considering that the subject for some of the macro panoramas may be no more than 60 cm, I am thrilled by the possibilities and inspired to produce more ground breaking work."

Andy Warhol - Motion Pictures This exhibition was organized by The Museum of Modern Art, New York, in cooperation with The Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh. Andy Warhol: Motion Pictures focuses on the artist's screen tests and non-narrative films from 1963-73. Within it we see sequences of his “most beautiful women” - screen tests featuring “Baby” Jane Holzer, Ivy Nicholson, Edie Sedgwick - and other works that showcase a parade of friends, actors, and models - Dennis Hopper, James Rosenquist, and Walter Burn to name just a few. This collection of tests is followed by the artist’s non-narrative films including Eat, Sleep, Kiss, and Blow Job. His films and videos capture the rich and raw texture of the fertile cultural milieu in which he lived and worked, and are crucial to the understanding of Warhol's work in other media. Prolific, mercurial, thought-provoking, charming, engaging, dynamic, confusing - just like the artist himself, Andy Warhol’s films explore the gamut of human emotion. The exhibition is a unique collection of twenty experimental silent, black and white films from the 1960s, which we can only see on a larger scale today thanks to digitalisation in large-screen projection, in the form of suspended tableaux. This exhibition enables the viewer to essentially view the films, most of which have never been displayed alongside their counterparts.
