Gallery for contemporary art
The gallery Benninger was founded in 1998, is situated in the Belgian quarter of Cologne and shows contemporary art (sculpture, painting, drawing, photography)
in its rooms which look like a studio. As well figurative as abstract art is shown – sometimes containing both – to grasp the whole band-width of fine arts. For exhibitions internatinal artists with very individual views or uncommon techniques are chosen, for example Marina Herrmann and Hertha Miessner (Germany), who also work on foils. Michael Scheirl (Austrian) only uses asphalt for his pictures and Vanessa Oppenhoff (New York) “sews” her drawings – only to mention four artists of a big group.
Each year the gallery participates in art fairs and other importants events in Cologne (Internationale Photoszene, Passagen etc.)
