The Galerie Epikur was founded in Wuppertal in 1979 with the intention to present contemporary art of both young and well-known artists from Germany and abroad. A great amount of our exhibitions are accompanied by catalogue releases from our own production as well as edition prints and multiples. The gallery has a special focus on informel and abstract art and is also fostering contemporary tendencies of figurative and realistic art. Painting and works on paper are at the center of our program, and yet also photography and site-specific installations are part of our scheme. Moreover, we present abstract and figurative sculpture intended for both indoor and outdoor display. Our exhibition program is supplemented by a wide variety of cultural events and artist-in-residences. By regularly attending important art fairs, we are able to present our program to an international audience.
