Introduction iArt was established with the intention of creating an institution that serves as both a visual cultural indicator for investors and collectors, as well as a forum for contemporary artists to exhibit their work. The Gallery strives to maintain the highest possible artistic and intellectual standards. Artworks by some of South Africa’s most prominent artists can be viewed alongside works by promising, young talent. Location iArt was founded in 2000 as an art consultancy with a clientel that includes both private and corporate collectors. In 2006 the gallery moved to the city center of Cape Town. The gallery is situated at 71 Loop Street, in an area rich with contemporary art galleries and craftmarkets. It is easily accessible to both tourists and Cape Town locals alike.

This elegant exhibition venue has been completely refurbished to suit the particular demands required of an art gallery.  It is one of the larger exhibition spaces in Cape Town – spanning approximately 650 square meters.  The space consists of two floors, divided into various exhibition areas.  The two floors have each been designed to suite different visual requirements.  The upper level resembles a more traditional style of gallery, while the lower floor is molded into a more contemporary exhibition space.

Biography iArt has only been operating as a commercial gallery for two years. During this period, the following projects have been undertaken: Nederburg Wine Auctions, Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees, Media 24 initiatives, Make-a-Difference Foundation, Jannewales Cultural Festival and Rooms-on-View. Previous exhibitions include: Zwelethu Mthwethwa & Louis Jansen van Vuuren, Clare Menck, Greg Kerr, Muse – 08 (Group Show) and Jan van der Merwe. iArt Gallery was nominated for a 2008 KANNA Award for Visual Art
