Harbour House is the venue for Second Glance, Plymouth photographer Maureen Douglas-Green's second solo exhibition at the Kingsbridge art gallery.

This new collection of photographs reflects Maureen's diverse interests in the natural world, and her search for the details and harmonies in nature that might so easily be missed.

Second Glance opens at the Kingsbridge art gallery on Monday 27 April.

Maureen will host an informal gallery talk at 11 am on Saturday 2 May, when she will explain more about her inspiration, and talk about her 32 acre nature reserve at Quoditch Moor.

Maureen's most recent work explores the possibilities of panoramic photography, and she plans to show these prints in a range of sizes up to 3 metres in width. Her particular passion in the panoramic field is macro botanical work and, she explains, "considering that the subject for some of the macro panoramas may be no more than 60 cm, I am thrilled by the possibilities and inspired to produce more ground breaking work."

Maureen was recently awarded second place in the Plant Portrait category of the RHS Photographic Competition, and she says, "As well as recording physiological detail, I really want to capture the character of plants and the environment they create."

Maureen is also well known in Devon and highly regarded as a life model, and the Nude in the Landscape remains a favourite subject that will be well represented in her new collection of work.

More recently, the opportunity to record the atmosphere and mood of steam trains and hard, efficient engineering has led to greater exploration of the subject. A dialogue with those involved with the mechanics of their skills has encouraged Maureen to enter the field of portraiture, developing a style that captures character and involvement. Similarly, Maureen's involvement with several collaborative musical projects in 2008 has offered an opportunity to capture a sense of unity between musician and instrument.

Maureen says, "Every image in the exhibition has a story to tell, and in some cases, a long one. I have become more and more involved with each subject as my mind actually starts to understand the images I am seeing, and to look deeply and explore the feature that makes a subject worthy of that all important 'second glance'."

Second Glance opens at Harbour House in Kingsbridge on Monday 27 April and features a new collection of photographs by Maureen Douglas-Green. Opening times are 10 am - 5 pm daily, until the close of the show on Sunday 10 May. There will be an informal gallery talk with the artist at 11 am on Saturday 2 May. Everybody is welcome, and admission is free.
