VIC REEVES TO SHOW NEW ARTWORK IN MAYFAIR

Vic Reeves, one of the UK’s most recognisable names from the world of TV comedy is to show a selection of new paintings this April in the heart of Mayfair in association with Eyestorm, the leading online gallery and publisher of limited edition contemporary art.

1_copyTitled ‘Where Eagles Tremble’, the exhibition features a new series of paintings that illustrate a fictional story written by Reeves about enigmatic film director Alan Todd, who makes aviation films featuring WWI airplanes.

Surreal and humorous like his comedy, Reeves’ new works are beautifully crafted and sublimely absurd, and once again prove that he is not just a comedy genius but a serious visual artist who will take you to another dimension with his perplexing imagination.

Behind The Scenes - hunting men
Gallery News - Gallery Events Mar 2009

galerie OPEN is pleased to present the first solo show „Behind The Scenes  - hunting men“, of the Colone photographer Matthias Baus in Berlin. The artist will be present at the opening.

image001 What’s behind it? Mathias Baus is a photographer. Born in Cologne in 1973, the artist is a photographer of the soul. Behind the Scenes is the result of this question of the history of the people and the title describes an aspect of the artist’s work. With his camera, he is looking beyond the eyes of his models. He reveals another world in these eyes, a world which only appears in full on a large print. Baus is interested in what is behind the façade; he looks at the human beings themselves, their inner world. A person’s facial expression is the starting point of Matthias Baus photography. Matthias Baus takes portrait photography an important step further with his “partial portraits”, moving away from the traditional interpretation. In his photo series, on which he has been working since 2004, the artist has been developing a new interpretation of the portrait: the portrayed person faces the camera with open eyes, a clear focus, and a serious expression.

Muhammad Ali photographs
Gallery News - Gallery Events Feb 2009

Eyestorm are pleased to have published four brand new limited edition photographs of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali by acclaimed photographer Bill Peronneau. Taken at the Pocono Mountain Training Camp at Deer Lake, Pennsylvania in 1974 while the athlete was preparing for the ‘Rumble In the Jungle' world heavyweight contest against George Foreman in Zaire, these intimately energetic portraits provide a rare opportunity to see Ali in the midst of his exercise regime - skipping, flexing and sparing with his own reflection.

Peronneau was given rare access to Ali's private cabin retreat after the two became friends while the photographer was working as a photojournalist documenting the civil rights movement in Philadelphia, where Ali lived at the time.
The result is a remarkable look into the private life of one of the world's most well-known sportsman.
There are four new prints in total, three featuring the boxer himself, the fourth an unconventional portrait showing only his personal training gear on the wooden floorboards.

Each in an edition of just 50, the new prints will be at the pre-publication price of
£500 +VAT each or £1,800 for the set of four until Saturday 28th February 2009 and
will then rise to the RRP price of £600 +VAT each from 1st March 2009. www.eyestorm.com
